A rare opportunity to acquire a historically significant, race-prepared 1951 Jaguar XK120 Competition Roadster.
Originally owned by Lt. Col. Ronnie Hoare-renowned Ferrari importer and founder of Maranello Concessionaires-LRW 747 is an early steel-bodied example, built in August 1951 and delivered in November after extensive factory testing, reportedly by Bob Berry.
Hoare took the car with him to West Germany during his military posting before returning it to the UK in 1955. During the 1960s and 70s, the car enjoyed a successful competition career under XK Register Competition Secretary Anthony Hutton, with entries at Silverstone, Thruxton and Prescott, as well as participation in the 1970 British GP XK Parade, where it hosted Jack Brabham.
After a dormant period, the car underwent a professional restoration in the mid-2000s by JD Classics, returning it to its original Silver with duo-blue interior.
Post-restoration, it has seen further competitive success, including entries at the Goodwood Revival, Silverstone Classic, Mille Miglia (2017 & 2019) and Modena Cento Ore (2023).
Included with the sale is a comprehensive history file featuring period documentation, photographs and magazine articles.
